May I assume that your citation showing that the acronym, OSCAR, stands for “Orbiting Satellite Carrying Amateur Radio” is correct?
Some sites cite “Orbital” as the first word.

Clint,
Thanks for your comments.
I’m not sure if it is “orbital” or “orbiting”, I’m just using what we used before. But I do see both variations in “use”.
I’ll forward the question on to Lance Ginner (K6GSJ, pictured holding OSCAR I), who worked on OSCARs I, II and III, and helped form Project OSCAR. Our current president Don (KD6IRE) and our president emeritus Ross (K6GFJ) might also have some insight.
It is important to have this correct. Our IRS paperwork might also shed some light, as we are the same 501(c)3 corporation dating back to the 1960s.
Thanks and 73!

Hello Dave. My name is Rich Dailey, and I hold the call N8UX. I’m interested in documenting the early days of Project Oscar, and would like to get in touch with any of the original project participants.
Glad to see Project Oscar has a much deserved web presence!
